The Sultan School District Board of Directors approved moving forward with the building of the Sky Valley Transportation Co-Op Facility in January of 2021. With the growth of the school district and the decline of the stability of the current building it has been determined that there is a need for a new Transportation Facility. This building will provide more room for storage, meeting rooms, and allow for expansion of the service bays for the maintenance of the buses and vehicles.

Project Scope:

Project is a Transportation Cooperative Facility including vehicle maintenance and repair bays with associated storage and an integrated administration building area. The Site accommodates bus and District vehicles and staff and visitor parking. The site work includes offsite street improvements to interface with the adjacent roadways and utility infrastructure.

Site:

The site includes 10 acres. The proposed developed areas include fairly level existing grading. The proposed project site development work includes a shared visitor and staff parking lot with associated walkway hardscape and landscaped areas and planting to meet City requirements. The South parking lot accommodates 49 buses for parking, circulation and access to maintenance bays. The paving areas may include such cost saving measures as portions of gravel paving to be determined later as costs are further developed. Undeveloped steep slope portions of the site lie on the east side requiring a buffer zone along the river way.

THIS PROJECT WENT OUT TO BID IN JUNE 2022. THERE WERE FOUR CONTRACTORS WHO SUBMITTED BIDS AND THESE BIDS WERE OPENED ON JULY 20, 2022, AND WITH SCHOOL BOARD APPROVAL, THE BID WAS AWARDED TO HB HANSEN ON JULY 25, 2022. THE SULTAN SCHOOL DISTRICT IS HOPEFUL THAT CONSTRUCTION WILL BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER OF 2022.
