Please take a few moments to look over the attached Senior Letter from the Sultan High School principal. This information has been emailed to our Class of 2025 Students (school email) and Parent/Guardians a couple of different times. We just want to ensure that you have seen the information. If your senior says they did not receive the email, please encourage them to check their junk folder and to continue to check their school email daily up until graduation. https://secure.smore.com/n/12yr4

Dear Senior Parents/Guardians and Class of 2025:
The following items provide important information regarding graduation requirements, end of year events for the Class of 2025, and the graduation ceremony. As a family, please review this information:
Academic Concerns:
To participate in the graduation ceremony, students must meet the following graduation requirements as set forth by the Sultan School District and OSPI. Participating in the graduation ceremony is not required to earn a diploma. Throughout the year, students have received report cards and have met with guidance counselors to review the requirements. Unfortunately, there are some students who are still in danger of not meeting one or more of the requirements. Guidance Counselors have sent correspondence home for students in danger of not graduating. This final semester is very important, especially in terms of the danger of not having enough credits (which can happen if the student fails a course). Seniors need to have all course work completed by Friday, June 6, 2025. This includes all outside courses, and credit recovery. SVO/SVA, you will need to follow the same dates as SHS if you plan on walking at graduation.
Please discuss your son’s/daughter’s graduation status with him or her. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s guidance counselor at (360) 793-9860.
Seniors who are at-risk for not graduating due to lack of credits have been notified. Please continue to monitor PowerSchool to check grades for current classes.
The counselors and administration will be developing the final list of graduates Thursday, June 12, 2025. This is a tedious process which requires, in some cases, refiguring grades from the final quarter and/or semester. If your son/daughter does not meet all of the requirements, you will be notified by no later than Friday, June 13, 2025.
Students who do not meet graduation requirements prior to June 11th are not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony; however, they can still earn a 2025 high school diploma if they meet the requirements before the end of August through our Summer Academy.
Class of 2025 Year-End Activities:
March 21-May 16, 2025: High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). HSBP is due by noon on May 16, 2025, if you plan on going to prom. Your Advisor will check off the completion of your HSBP. If you are not going to prom, the HSBP is due no later than June 6, 2025. You still need to get your HSBP checked off by your advisor.
May 2, 2025: Senior Breakfast, 8:30 AM in the commons Caps and Gowns should have already been purchased and will be handed out at Senior Breakfast on May 2, 2025 (includes cap, gown, tassel, and stole). Students should try on their cap and gown immediately to be sure they are the correct size. The student owns the gown and does not need to return it. If you are still in need of a cap and gown, notify your guidance counselor immediately.
May 9, 2025, and May 16, 2025: Senior SBA Testing (Senior Pathways for those who need it). The student will be notified, and testing will be done during school hours.
May 17, 2025: Prom will be held at The Start-Up Events Center in Start-Up. Tickets will be sold May 5-May 16, 2025; $40 w/ ASB and $45 without ASB. Tickets will not be sold at the door. You MUST be in good standing with attendance and behaviors. Any students planning on bringing a guest will need to pick up a guest form as well. Guest forms are due no later than May 14, 2025, no exceptions! Guest forms are now available in the front office.
June 1, 2025: Baccalaureate/Senior Send Off 6PM, location TBD (Sponsored by Crosswater Community Church)
June 9-10, 2025: Senior Finals
June 6-12, 2025: Senior Check-out forms will be distributed to your first period teacher to be handed out to seniors. (Full time Running Start students, your forms will be emailed to you.) Seniors take your Check-out forms to your teachers, and staff to have the form signed off. Seniors are responsible for all fees which include laptops, library books, textbooks which have not been returned (even from previous years), lunch monies owed, etc. Forms can only be signed before or after school or in between classes. Do not go into a class during a teacher’s class time and interrupt. They will not sign your form during class time. Once your form is complete and you have everything cleared you will then bring your completed form to the office and give it to Ms. Debbie. She will then sign you up to walk at graduation.
This check-out process includes the payment of fees/fines. Seniors whose names are on this list are responsible for all fees which include library books, textbooks which have not been returned (even from previous years), lunch monies owed, etc. Unpaid fees/fines may result in the diploma being held.
June 11, 2025: Pass-The-Torch Assembly. This is an assembly where the senior class leaders pass leadership on to the next group of leaders.
June 11, 2025: Senior Tea, 3:30 PM in the commons. All seniors and parents/guardians are welcome to attaend. Scholarship awards will be announced during the Senior Tea. Not all seniors will be receiving awards or scholarships. I hope that many of you filled out the local scholarship packet and got it turned in to be considered for our local scholarships.
June 11, 2025: All information regarding scholarships not presented at the school must be submitted for the graduation program. Please submit to Angie Heath at angela.heath@sultan.k12.wa.us.
June 12, 2025: Senior Class Field Trip is still being organized and determined by the senior class officers and advisor. To attend the senior trip, you must be in good standing. Good standing means you are on track to graduate and do not have any behavior referrals since May 5, 2025.
June 13, 2025: Last Day of School for Seniors.
June 13, 2025: Grad Walk. Arrive at SHS commons 8:00 AM to pick up a practice graduation gown and load a bus.
June 13, 2025: Grad Practice and Grad BBQ. Grad practice begins right after the grad walk. If not participating in the grad walk, seniors need to report to the gym by 10:30 AM. Good conduct helps the practice move along smoothly. Students should make arrangements to be at the practice for the entire time. Students who do not attend practice will not walk at graduation. If there are extenuating circumstances where your student will not be able to attend practice or must leave early, please contact Ms. Whitmire-Skeith at the school.
June 14, 2025: Senior Parent Safe and Sober Grad Night. This is a non-school event. For more information, contact Sultan Parents at sultanparentsseniors@gmail.com.
June 14, 2025: The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 PM at the Sultan High School Stadium. Seniors will meet in the SHS Gym no later than 1:00 PM for pictures and staging. Families will go to the stadium if they are not already there. Dress code regulations, along with all school regulations apply. Gowns must be worn appropriately with the SHS stole.
No tickets are needed to attend graduation; however, the stadium will open at 10:00 AM for families that would like to reserve a spot in the grandstands. Ushers will be staged throughout the grandstands. They will be on site to manage spaces and observers. Their primary purpose is to direct people to open seats. Ushers are NOT there to watch your space. Families can save up to 10 seats per graduating senior. At least one person from your party will need to stay with your reserved spot and not leave the grandstands. Ushers will be going through the stands continuously and will remove unaccompanied items. If your party is not in their seats by 1:30 PM, those seats will be opened to others. Do not block the aisles with ropes or tape. Seats can be saved with blankets or signs. Handicap seating will be available. Balloons and umbrellas are not allowed in the stands as they block the view of others.
REMINDER: The graduation ceremony is STREAMED LIVE! To view the ceremony, visit the following website: Go to http://www.TurkPride.tv
Please do not bring balloons or umbrellas in the stands or tent/pop-ups on the grassy knoll as they impair the line of vision for others. Security personnel will be on duty. The school has made arrangements to have an individual picture made of each graduate as the graduate leaves the stage. These pictures will be taken by O’Connor Photography. Taking pictures close to the stage by guests will not be allowed until after the ceremony. Other pictures taken from your seat in the audience are fine.
Cap/mortarboard decorating will be allowed this year. The Administration has the right to remove any cap/mortarboard that they deem inappropriate. We do not have extras, so if there is a question about the appropriateness of the design, please ask. See attached guidelines regarding decorating.
Students are allowed to wear heritage regalia (a stole that represents their family heritage) along with any other school stoles, honor cords or medals.
Graduation Etiquette:
Please be aware that we are attempting to have a formal graduation ceremony.

Additional items for Seniors: SHS has been fortunate not to have a tradition of year-end pranks by Seniors. We expect this to continue for the benefit of our school and our students. As a warning, any student who participates in year-end pranking will face serious consequences, which may include arrest, not participating in graduation and/or graduation-related events. You are encouraged to discuss this with your child.
**Please note that dates and times are subject to change, and we will notify you of any date/time changes.
Sincerely,
Sarita Whitmire-Skeith
Principal
