There will be an Evacuation Drill up Love's Hill on April 1st starting at 9:30am. Students need to dress appropriately with preferably close-toed shoes and a warm coat.
The Evacuation Drill is weather dependent. Should it be postponed, the decision will be made by 8:30am on the day of the drill and posted on the district website.

This is an important message from Coach Grady that has been sent out via Final Forms to Parent and Guardians who have signed their student up for Track and Field. If you did not receive it and expected to, please call our office at 360-793-9850.
Dear Parents and Athletes,
Welcome to the start of the Sultan Middle School Track & Field season! We’re excited to kick things off and are looking forward to a great season of hard work, competition, and fun. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jessica Grady, (Coach Grady) and this is my 3rd season of being head coach. I am very excited to be returning for another season!
All athletes should come prepared and have an idea of what events they’d like to focus on. Track & Field offers a variety of events, including:
Running Events:
• Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m)
• Distance (800m, 1600m)
• Hurdles (100m for girls, 110m for boys)
• Relays (4x100m, 4x200m)
Field Events:
• Long Jump
• High Jump
• Shot Put
• Discus
All athletes must compete in one event and can compete in up to 4 events at a meet. Athletes cannot compete in more than 3 running or field events at a meet. Example would be competing in the 200m, 4x1, 100m and High Jump.
Important Team Rules & Expectations:
• Attendance & Commitment – Athletes are expected to attend all practices and meets. If an absence is unavoidable, please communicate with the coaching staff in advance.
• Effort & Attitude – We expect all athletes to give their best effort every day. A positive attitude and a willingness to push yourself are key to success.
• Sportsmanship – Athletes should respect teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials at all times.
• Proper Gear – Running shoes, athletic wear, and water bottles are necessary for every practice. If an athletes comes to practice not wearing proper athletic gear, this will result in sitting out, counting as a missed practice. If you have any issues getting proper gear, please reach out to the office or the coating staff.
• Academics Come First – Athletes must maintain good grades to participate.
Lastly, athletes must have 8 practices in before they can compete in the first meet.
Practices:
We will always meet in the middle school gym. 2:45-4:45pm Monday-Thursday. We might have a Friday practice later in the season. Depending on location of practice, at the high school track or middle school, athletes will catch the bus at either location. If athletes get picked up, the coaches will always walk back to the middle school for athletes to get picked at 5pm. Athletes who walk home are free to leave as soon as practice is concluded.
Our first practice will be on Monday, April 13th at the middle school gym. Please ensure your athlete has a current physical on file before the first day of practice. Athletes can't practice until a physical is on file!
Meets:
All of our meets will be posted on athletic.net, ( https://www.athletic.net/team/29567/track-and-field-outdoor/2026 ) where you can also check your entries and results. We do not use Arbiter! Athletes are required to be present and on time for school-day meets. Additionally, athletes must take the bus to all meets. If a parent or guardian wishes to take an athlete home from a meet, they must sign out with a coach at the event and be authorized to do so. Now is a good time to review your details on FinalForms. If there are any changes regarding who an athlete will be going home with, please notify the coaching staff via email. Lastly, our meets follow a rolling schedule, meaning they will end when they end. Meets usually last a few hours, but we will send an email with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) back to the Middle School once the meet is complete.

Can't wait to see the rest of the week' s school spirit!

Check your ParentSquare account for conference sign ups. There is also a drop-in time on Thursday from 5-8pm only. Please call our office with any questions or concerns at 360-793-9850.
