Girls Volleyball is wrapping up a great season! Their final games are at Granite Falls Middle School on October 21st.
Dear Sultan School District Families and Community Members,
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you that our Superintendent, Dan Chaplik, will be retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. We are grateful for his years of dedicated service to our district.
As we begin the process of selecting a new superintendent, the board is committed to being as transparent as possible. We value your input and invite all parents, guardians, and community members to participate in our superintendent search focus groups on October 22nd. Your feedback is essential in helping us choose a leader who will guide our district with dedication and vision.
There will be two locations for the community focus group sessions:
·Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:30-7:30 pm, Gold Bar Elementary Gym
·Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:30-7:30 pm, Sultan Middle School Commons

SMS Families we need your help in keeping our bus lane clear! Starting at the beginning of this school year parents have been directed to pick up and drop off on High Street, directly in front of the school. This is a safer and more efficient option for parents and families.
Our bus lane is on 4th street from High Street to the end of the SMS football field. This lane is a no parking area from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Signs are posted. Violators of the no parking will be towed at the owners expense.

Tomorrow, October 15th, 2024 is the Culmback Dam Evacuation Drill for SHS, SMS, and SES. GBE does not participate since they would not be affected in the event of a real emergency with the dam. The weather would be evaluated in the morning and if deemed unsafe for the walk up the hill, the drill would be canceled and notification to everyone by 8, no later than 8:30 pm. If conditions are safe, the drill will continue like normal, beginning at 9:30 am. REMINDER: Please dress for rain just in case and wear close-toed shoes. Water will be provided at the top of the hill! Call 360-793-9800 if you have any questions or concerns.

SMS Fire Update 8:44 am: The fire department is still on the scene and finishing up its investigation. They have cleared the building and students will be let back into their classrooms to continue their day. Thank you for being so patient during this incident. Please call the district office at 360-793-9800 if any questions.
*Update 8:20 am - The incident was isolated to one classroom. All students and staff have evacuated safely. We will continue to get information out as we know.
We are aware of a fire at Sultan Middle School. The fire department is on its way with the medic. We are following our standard evacuation drill protocol right now and will hold buses. More information will come as soon as we know. Please do not come to the Middle School to pick up your child. We will send communication very soon. If you have any questions, please call 360-793-9800.

Do you love to play outside? Do you want to explore the wonderful outdoor experiences surrounding us here in Sultan? Then come on out for Venture Out!! This club is designed to get YOU, the students, out and exploring! We will engage in activities such as mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, and so much more!
Our first meeting is this Thursday, the 10th, after school in the Library. See you there!

The Sultan School District Board of Directors will hold a special board meeting on Monday, September 30th, 2024, at 6 pm at Sultan Elementary Library located at 501 Date Street, Sultan, Washington 98294. This meeting is open to the public and will be a presentation from DA Davidson regarding the Sultan 2024 Bond.

The Sultan School District Board of Directors will hold a closed executive session on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024 at 5 pm via Zoom. This will not be open to the public. This executive session will be held for "legal council for litigation, potential litigation, or enforcement actions.
