Dear Community Members,

The Sultan School District is in the process of adding additional participants to our Citizens Facility Advisory Committee that would have the charge of advising the Board of Directors on a plan of how to best address the facility and infrastructure needs of our district schools, buildings, and athletic fields. The 2025 committee will analyze all pertinent information, including our 2022 Study and Survey, post-2024 bond survey data, and upcoming expiring levy and levy renewal needs and priorities. This plan doesn’t necessarily mean a bond is forthcoming. The group will determine this. This group has been in existence since 2019 and there is still lots of work to accomplish to the overall facility plan that the district and community create together.

Public schools belong to the communities encompassed within their boundaries and we envision an advisory committee that is made up of as many as 30 members. Our desire is to include members with a broad cross- section of interests, backgrounds, and experiences. We want to include community members, parents of current and past students, Sultan School District staff, and any other community residents. Regardless of interest, background, or experience, committee participants must be residents of the Sultan School District.  This will also serve as a time when we transition to a new superintendent Dr. Chris Granger who will begin on July 1, 2025.

If you are interested in participating, then please complete this Microsoft Form: https://forms.office.com/r/pkNDkzMeS4 to understand the school board’s charge to the advisory committee and other related application information and requirements.

You can apply on your own behalf or recommend somebody else for the committee. If you choose to nominate someone other than yourself, you must talk to them prior to applying. We will be accepting applications to participate until Wednesday, June 16, 2025, at 5 pm. You can send your completed application to Kaela Chong at kaela.chong@sultan.k12.wa.us. We are looking to have the committee updated prior to resuming our meetings in June 2025. Meetings will run from 6—7:30 pm and occur no more than twice per month and they will be at the Sky Valley Transportation Cooperative, 32900 Cascade View Drive, Sultan, WA 98294. Feel to call if you have any questions! We appreciate your support in this matter.

Sincerely,

Dan Chaplik, Superintendent
