Dear Sultan School District Community,
The Sultan School District Board of Directors would like to inform our community that Superintendent Dr. Christopher Granger departed the district effective September 15, 2026.
We sincerely thank Dr. Granger for his leadership, dedication, and service to our students, staff, families, and community. During his tenure, he played a key role in developing the district's Mission, Vision, Goals, and Strategic Plan, updating the Capital Facilities Plan, establishing a new long-range facilities plan, and helping lead the successful passage of the district levy. These accomplishments have helped position the Sultan School District for continued success and created a strong foundation for the future.
To ensure continuity of leadership and district operations, Dr. Paul Douglas has been appointed Interim Superintendent, effective immediately. The Board is working diligently to address both the immediate and long-term leadership needs of the district while maintaining focus on student achievement, staff support, and the district's strategic priorities.
We recognize that this transition may raise questions for members of our community. Clear, transparent, and timely communication remains a top priority for the Board. We will provide an update regarding the superintendent transition and next steps during the Board's regular business meeting on September 28, 2026. Should any significant developments occur before that meeting, we will share those updates with our community as appropriate.
The Board remains committed to the goals and direction established through our strategic planning efforts and to maintaining momentum on the important work taking place throughout the district. Our focus remains steadfast: providing a high-quality educational experience for every student while fostering strong partnerships with families and the community.
